Text messages from Deana
Who gets texts
Only the owner of a Deana account, at the mobile number they gave us themselves. Deana never texts your customers, your suppliers, or anyone else on your behalf. Your customers hear from Deana by email and, if you turn the phone on, by voice.
What the texts are
Confirmation codes. When you ask Deana to do something that moves money or changes who can reach your account (send an invoice with new payment details, add a person to your directory, change your address), she double-checks it with a four-digit code sent to a different channel than the one you asked on. If you asked by email, the code can come by text.
Reminders you set. "Remind me Tuesday at 9 to call the inspector." At Tuesday at 9, a text.
That is all. No marketing, no promotions, no newsletters, and nothing you did not ask for. Message frequency depends on what you ask her to do; most owners see a few texts a week. Message and data rates may apply.
How you agree to texts
On the signup form. The form at deana.ai has an unchecked box next to your phone number: "I agree to receive texts from Deana at this number: one-time confirmation codes for actions I ask for, and reminders I set. Up to a few messages a week. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to end texts, HELP for help." The box is unchecked until you tick it, and it is part of signing up, because the one-time codes that protect the account are delivered by text. Nothing promotional is ever sent; STOP ends texts at any time, after which codes come by phone call. After you submit, the page says a confirmation link is on its way by email; the account, and the consent, take effect when you open that link.
On the phone. If a number on the account has not agreed to texts (it was added later, or texts were stopped) and Deana needs to send it a code, she asks first. Her script, word for word:
"Before I send that, may I text this number? I'd only text you confirmation codes for things you ask me to do, and reminders you set. Message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP at any time to end it."
Only a clear yes turns texting on. A no, or anything unclear, leaves it off and she reads the code out on a call instead.
By texting first. If you text Deana's number first, she replies to that conversation. That does not enrol you in codes or reminders; only the form box or a spoken yes does.
What you receive
After a yes, one welcome text: "Deana: texts are on for this number. I'll send confirmation codes for things you ask me to do, and reminders you set. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply STOP to end, HELP for help."
A code looks like: "Deana code: 4821. This confirms sending invoice INV-2026-0014 to Johnson. Reply STOP to opt out."
A reminder looks like: "Deana: reminder. Call the inspector about the Rivera permit. Reply STOP to opt out."
Keywords
Opt in: text START, YES or UNSTOP to Deana's number. Opt out: STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT. Help: HELP or INFO. The replies, word for word:
After a stop: "Deana: texts are off for this number. You won't get any more texts from me; I'll call or email instead. Reply START to turn them back on."
After HELP: "Deana by DEANA.AI INC. Confirmation codes and reminders you asked for. Msg&data rates may apply. Reply STOP to end. Questions: hello@deana.ai"
Stopping
Reply STOP to any text and texting ends at once; Deana confirms with one final message and does not text that number again unless you say START or check the box again. Reply HELP for a message with our contact details. You can also tell Deana "stop texting me" by email or on a call, or write to hello@deana.ai. Without texts, Deana calls or emails you instead; nothing else changes.
Your number
Your mobile number and your consent are never sold, rented, or shared with anyone for their own marketing. The number goes to our messaging carrier, Twilio, only to deliver the messages above. Our Privacy Policy covers the rest.
